Time to dye the eggs! After dinner this evening, we sat down at a towel-covered, hand-me-down card table in the kitchen over the wood floors (avoiding the carpet) so that we could color our Easter eggs. The kit that we bought this year is a tie dye kit, which means that you wrap your egg in a damp piece of fabric (provided) and put it inside a plastic mold with lots of holes in it. Then you take a (provided) syringe to suck egg dye out of the cups and sqeeze it in through the holes in the mold. The dye then bleeds around the damp fabric and creates a tie dyed effect. Very Cool!

Madison focused on just coloring the eggs in the traditional fashion, and was very particular about which colors she wanted. At one point, Steve was trying to convince her to do a yellow, because we didn't have one yet, but she was quite certain that she wanted to do orange (Kellen had already done an orange) and she wasn't having any of his suggestions.

This is Kellen's tie dyed egg. I just loved it! The swirled colors just look so cool :)

This last is a solid part of Steve's Easter traditions. You may think it looks kind of ugly, but this is his rock egg. After everyone is done with their dying effects, Steve takes one last egg and puts it through each and every one of the colors, creating a somewhat rock-colored egg. He does it every year, and it's his favorite. This one had a little more green to it than some others have had in the past, and he felt like the fingerprints around it (from rolling it in the dye) gave it a slightly more realistic look :)

We've done the tie-dyed eggs before, and I agree, they are very cool. The rock egg looks neat too. That's a pretty funny tradition to do, but I guess every tradition deserves its chance to shine.
How fun. We are (hopefully) doing our eggs tomorrow. Very cool eggs though.
Wow, who got all fancy shmancy on us! That is an intense kit! Though, I am glad that for the one I bought I didn't spend more than $1.44--especially since we aren't as cool OR Prepared as you with vinegar. :)
I'm glad you all had fun! I love how much Maddy has her 'own mind' and won't be swayed.
I love tie dying eggs. It is so much fun. My mom did that this year. I loved dying eggs this year.
