Ups and Downs

I talked to Mom this morning (who stayed home from work today because she was sick) and, after discussing holiday baking, decided to make toffee this year. I haven't made it in a long time, I can't actually remember the last time I did. That was a flop, though. I thoroughly burned my toffe, wasting perfectly good butter and brown sugar. That would be the down. The up is that at least I knew I had burned it and didn't waste nuts and chocolate on it :) For the last week and a half I have felt like I've run into a brick wall with Madison's toilet training (after a week in diapers and pull-ups at Disneyland) so I've been feeling really frustrated over that. On the upside, she has managed to stay dry all day today, and asked to go potty several times :) With all the rain we've had lately, it's been rather dreary, but thanks to leftovers I don't have to make dinner tonight :) For the most part, this post only occurred to me because I told Steve that the highlight of my day was that Madison had stayed dry all day. I wondered momentarily if that was a little sad, but I think I need to find highs where I can find them, and a little success in toilet training certainly counts!
