This is our Christmas tree, pre-ornaments. We did put ornaments on, but thanks to Madison, we've had to revise our decorating so that they were all on the upper 2 feet of the tree. Then, while we were out running errands yesterday afternoon, our tree fell over. We were just lucky that only two ornaments were broken. We haven't gotten it put back up properly yet, but hopefully we will soon. I apologize, by the way, for the fact that the picture is sideways. I'm not sure how to fix that on here since the camera changes it automatically in Picasa...
On Friday afternoon Madison and I went to Kellen's school where he was awarded Student of the Month for being Considerate (that's this month's theme). Afterwards, the students of the month and their family members went to the library for cookies.
Madison is old enough now that Kellen typically chooses to do things in his room where she can't destroy what he's doing, but every once in a while I get a random moment of the two of them doing something quiet together. Kellen is still really good about playing with Madison for the purpose of keeping her busy, but it's not the first thing he chooses to do, obviously. Here, he's reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, while she's 'reading' her library board books.
Mom sent some wooden ornaments for the kids to decorate, so this is both of them sitting at the table coloring their ornaments with markers (less mess than paints!) while I was getting out some scrapbooking stuff.
On Sunday afternoon, Kellen had his first piano recital. He did fairly well; all of his pieces were duets with his teacher. Madison didn't like it so much, though. Being required to sit still and be quiet doesn't make for a very happy Madison. Afterwards, there was cookies and punch for everyone, and the teacher gave all her students a small gift bag with some candy and a music-themed Christmas ornament.
