Okay, I haven't even sat down in front of a computer for like two days! Wow. So I've been running around checking everyone's blogs, seeing what everyone has been up to. It's exciting to see Melinda so close to having Lizzie come home, I really envy Rachel her trip alone with her hubby (I don't remember the last time Steve and I got more than a couple of hours away), I'm glad to hear that Thomas's rash is going away and that Steph got to make brownies with Zaylee, but sorry that Michelle has to squeeze the budget for a new(er) car.
Well, we had a blast at our Pinewood Derby this weekend. I actually didn't get many pictures, since I spent most of the time manning the bake sale table, and moving cars are hard to take pictures of anyway. The fastes car from each den will go on to compete at the District Derby in a couple of weeks, but Kellen wasn't one of them. He had a great time watching his car run, and won a couple of the races, which was great. Steve did end up getting his Jeep finished (I need to take a picture of that and post it...) but the bottom right corner split when he was putting his wheel on. That meant that he had to set that wheel higher up, leaving his Jeep just running on three wheels. Needless to say, it didn't do very well. But he had fun making it! Bob and Judy drove through that day, since they were on their way out of town in their rv for a couple of months. It was wonderful to have them there with us. Bob was racing a car in the open with Steve, as well as Madison. Hers didn't race so well because of a melted wheel (apparently a dremel can spin the wheel fast enough while lubricating it with the graphite to melt the rubber...) but she had a wonderful time running up to get her car every time they ran it down the track! Later in the evening we had our cubmaster and his family over for dinner with us, which meant that Kellen and their two boys (ages 7 and 5) had a blast running through the house, playing in Kellen's room, and playing out in the backyard. Madison and their 3-yr-old daughter played with baby dolls and Maddi's stroller, although the playing and sharing didn't go quite as smoothly as it did with the older kids...
Steve and I took a closer look at my laptop and it has been determined that the fan isn't running, which has been causing my computer to shut itself down. It will cost us almost $100 to get a new fan for it, so I'm not going to be on it for a while; that's just not in the budget right now. The computer in the kitchen isn't quite as slow as I thought it was, so that's the one I'll be using until we get mine fixed, whenever that is :)
In the meantime, both Madison and Kellen are sickies, exhibiting coughs, sneezes, and sniffles. We kept Kellen home from school today, and I made him lay down in his room for an hour so that he could get some rest time in. Hopefully he will be ready to go back to school tomorrow. I don't want him to miss any more than he has to, but neither do we want him spreading germs around school :) As long as he was home, we went through his room today and removed two paper sacks of "stuff" from his room, cleaning and straightening everything up. I'm not sure how long it will last, but it looks great for the moment!
Now Madison is up from her nap and Kellen has been playing video games for about the last hour and half (time to get off!) so we are going to start putting dinner together. Steve actually doesn't have meetings tonight and he requested a meat pie for dinner tonight. I have the stew meat defrosted, but I still need to cook it, season it, make a crust, make the gravy, add the veggies, etc. So I'm off to get that done so that we will have dinner tonight.
A special Thank You to Aunt Annette. Per her advice the other night, I rinsed the chicken well and put it in the crockpot Saturday morning with water, potatoes, carrots, peas, egge noodles, and a single chicken boullion cube with the end result of a very good chicken soup that has since been polished off! I was so panicked that evening, and was worried that I had managed to waste 4 perfectly good chicken breasts, but her advice saved me. Thanks!

A temp fix for your laptop... a friend of mine is having the same problem with her fan not working and the laptop shutting off. So she took an actual fan, like you use in the summer, and runs it on the laptop, kind of on the side so it doesn't freeze her, while it is running, and it works pretty well. A little bit of an eyesore unless you have an unobstrusive or small desk fan, but it does work... Good luck!
