Getting ready for the Pinewood Derby!

Okay, this was actually before scouts, but Kellen is showing off the snowflake that he made over Christmas break with some pipe cleaners, string, water, and Borax. For those who aren't familiar with this activity, the Borax clings to the string and crystalizes. Next: we are thinking about using food coloring in the water...

We are making our Pinewood Derby cars this month, but the derby isn't being held until March so one of our leaders came up with the idea of having each boy decorate a box to keep his car in so it will stay safe until the derby.

After decorating their boxes, the boys each got to make a license plate. Kellen's says "BOOSTR", one boy used his initials and his age, someone else did "BUMBLB", and they had a lot of fun making them.
