Steve's Cake!
I don't know that it's possible to get the full scope of this cake in a photo, but here is Steve's cake. We used three cake mixes to make this. There is was a strawberry cake, a devil's food cake, and a yellow cake, each baked as a 9x13. The entire strawberry cake (the full 9x13) was left un-alterred for the base. Then he cut and stacked the other cakes in graduating layers so that he could use the electric knife to carve the shape that he wanted, bringing it to a finished height of 8-10 inches. So Kellen and I baked the cakes, Steve did the creating, and then I did the frosting and the decorations on top. I know, it has monster trucks on it. It was supposed to be a Pinewood Derby track, so you'll just have to imagine race cars instead of trucks :) And ignore the toothpicks, please. Those are only there because I didn't think to take a picture earlier in the day when it was sitting completed at home. This picture (courtesy of Michelle - thank you) was taken after it was sold at the auction. Obviously, in order to transport it, we had to cover it with plastic wrap and the toothpicks were there to keep it from sticking to the frosting.

That is AMAZING! You guys are SO creative!
That's great! I had to laugh at the electric knife. Sounds somewhere aong the lines of a chain saw!
Great job Steve! Looks good, especially the chocolate frosting!
That's so neat! I can see why it brought in so much money!
Wow, greatt looking cake Steve! Sounds like you had a lot of fun and raised a fair amount of money:)
Holy Smokes!! That looks absolutely divine! Can I get a piece from the top:)? Great job, Steve!
Your welcome, and I loved the cake myself but it was WAY out of my price range. Did you see the grand total from the sale? Something like $162.How awesome is that!
That is one cool cake. I love it. I'll have to keep it in mind for when Matthew's in scouts. I'm sure they'll need a cool cake for something.
Great job!
Aaron and I were very impressed by Steve's ingenuity. Way cool. Glad to hear that you both brought in some money for the scouts!
