Time out!
Steve didn't have to go to work on Saturday so we made the most of our day. First, we had Goodwill Goodturn, in which Kellen was supposed to gather donations for Goodwill from our neighborhood that we would take him to donate, meeting the rest of the pack at noon. We didn't canvas the neighborhood, but we did gather a garbage bag full of stuff from our own house, which was just great, as far as I was concerned! Steve took Kellen down to donate our bag of stuff while I was supposed to get Madison down for a nap. She refused. Oh, well. We had plans to take her to a friend's house to play for the afternoon while we took Kellen into town to see the Spiderwick Chronicles, and that wasn't about to change. So we took Madison, nap-less, to play at Garrett's house (the child I watched on Wednesday night) and then Steve, Kellen, and I headed into town. Unfortunately, we had a little lack of communication. I thought that leaving at 130pm would suit just fine for getting to a 220pm show. But Steve had thought that we were leaving at 1pm so that we would have time to grab a drive-through lunch at McD's. We actually left at about 140pm and, not having written down the name and address of the theatre we were going to, Steve drove to the wrong one. By that time, we were late for the show at the right theatre so we changed our plans a little. We put gas in the car, since it was on empty, and then went to Taco Del Mar for a late lunch before heading to another theatre for a slightly later show, although still a matinee. We brought in our own snacks (I know the theatres don't like it, but I won't pay their prices!) and Kellen thoroughly enjoyed the movie. As happens in most cases like this, the books were better than the movie, and story deviated a little bit, but it was really good overall. Kellen loved it! The only drawback was that the later showing ran into when we were supposed to meet with the cub pack to watch Down and Derby, so Steve dropped me at the house to take my car to get Madison while he and Kellen went to watch the movie with the pack. They'd already missed most of it, but it was our movie and we'd have to get it back anyway... Madison had a good time playing at Garrett's house, and even took a late nap there. It was a great opportunity for us to get a little time away doing something just with Kellen, since that has only happened once before this since Madison was born. Of course, now Kellen wants us to buy the movie when it comes out on dvd....

I'm glad Kellen got his 'own' time with you and Steve. Sounds like the day was a success, even if it was scattered.
