Snow Day!

I know, for many of you this is a very common occurence in the winter, but it's not supposed to be here. This is the second time it has snowed here, and this time they cancelled school for it, for the amount of snow that you see in this picture :) But there is method to the madness. This snow, however insignificant it may look, is basically a slick sheet of ice which transformed Steve's 20-30 min commute into an hour 1/2 commute. The community just isn't equipped to handle it; drivers are horrible because they don't know how to drive on it (give them rain any day!) and the cities don't have the means for de-icing because it's not common enough here.

Anyway, the kids and I went out for a bit this morning after Steve left for work so that they could play in it for a while. Kellen brought out his r/c truck and had fun making it skid across the snow/ice (see the videos at the end of this post) while Madison tried to pick it up and throw it in the air.

Apparently sand toys aren't exclusive to the beach, because Madison was trying to shovel up the snow :)

Kellen running his truck from one end of the patio. He stayed out longer than the rest of us so that he could run the battery dead on the truck before coming back in to charge it up again.

These are two video clips that I took of the Kellen running the r/c truck this morning. He loved making it spin out on the ice. Now if he will just limit things like that to remote control vehicles when he gets to high school, instead of trying it out on a full-size car!

What a lot of fun for the kids to have a different twist on outside activities! I'm with you on hoping Kellen keeps his tricks to RC.
