Scout Activities

Kellen once again had no school today (in case you weren't keeping track, he's had 3 days off in two weeks of school) so the pack arranged for an activity today to go visit our local police station and learn a little about law enforcement. We first sat in the boardroom, where all the officers meet at the beginning and end of their shifts, to talk about being safe (emergency phone numbers, stranger danger, etc.) and then we were given a tour by Officer Ball.

In this photo, Officer Ball has lead the kids into a back room that serves the purpose of being coffee room, evidence storage, and evidence processing. He also showed them the emergency equipment that each officer carries in their car, and the board where they sign out that equipment.

This is their booking room and the piece of equipment that the kids are gathered around is their breathilizer.

This collection of patches was started by one of the officers and represents many police stations throughout the U.S., and even one from Scotland Yard.

At the end of the tour, Officer Ball even brought the kids out to his patrol car in front of the station and let them sit in the front seat with him while he showed them all the gadgets in his car, including the lights and siren :)
